Use and characteristics of grains

Innovating to meet the demands of the agri-food market

The production of field crops generates bioproducts. To remain profitable and sustainable, it is important that the harvested material be of the highest quality and meet the specific needs of buyers.

This area of research combines several disciplines to promote the synchronization of supply and demand in the agri-food market. This includes the selection of new varieties with superior or novel qualities, research on post-harvest grain management, and the study of emerging crops for niche or specialized markets.

This area of research is not limited to cereals and oilseed crops. The Quebec Bio-Industrial Plant Network (RPBQ) provides agronomic information to plant biomass producers and explores potential outlets for the use of this biomass to develop various high value-added bioproducts.
